At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 3rd, 2004, South Bend Police and Fire responded to a 911 call from 2105 Hamilton Street. In the basement, they found the body of 29-year old Lorenzo Joel Walker. Walker was last heard from at 10:00 that morning. An autopsy revealed that Walker died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Police believe that Walker was confronted in his driveway, or just inside his home. They also believe that more than one person was involved in this homicide, and that drugs or drug money were also involved.

On June 13th, 2003, a resident of 916 Madison Street in Elkhart discovered the body of 70-year old Stuart Statler inside an empty apartment. Mr. Statler was the landlord of the building. The Coroner determined he had been shot to death. Earlier that day, a witness saw two white males, who appeared to be in their twenties, running from the building.

On May 8, 1985 the family of Ada Haradine became alarmed when she failed to meet her young son at the bus stop after school. Around 3:00 on that day, a neighbor saw Ada in her backyard doing yard work. Her family was mystified by her disappearance.
Three years later, Ada`s remains were discovered by a couple of young mushroom hunters in some woods near Birch Road and US12 in Cass County. It was clear she had suffered severe blow to the head.
Over the years, investigators have followed up on hundreds of leads, but this case remains unsolved.

The night of May 28, 1994, South Bend Police responded to a 911 call at 265 N. Kenmore Street. A woman reported that 3 black males forced their way into the house and shot 19-year old Ronnie Ciesielski in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have interviewed possible suspects in this case, but need more information for charges to be filed.

In March of 1987, 17-year old Sandra Powell disappeared from her South Bend home without a trace. In 1986, Sandra witnessed the murder of a friend. Days before her disappearance, Sandra testified at the homicide trial. Police believe she is the victim of foul play, and she is presumed dead.
Over the years, police have continued to follow up on leads, but this case remains unsolved. Sandra`s family is desperate for answers. Crime Stoppers believes that someone in the community knows what happened, and we will keep you anonymous.

On Sunday night, April 1st, 2007, Michigan City police were dispatched to 1300 Lafayette Street on reports of several shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found 24-year old Robert "RJ" Winter lying face down in his yard at 1316 Lafayette. Robert had been shot several times with a handgun and died from his wounds.
Robert had just arrived home in his distinctive blue Chevy Monte Carlo when he was confronted in his yard. Possible suspects were seen running from the area.
Michigan City police investigators have followed many leads and conducted numerous interviews, and are asking for help from the public.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on July 20, 2012, 18-year old Charles Roberts was with two of his friends on his porch at 1101 N. Adams Street in South Bend. A group of 4 or 5 young black males confronted them. At least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun and fired multiple shots at Charles and his friends.
Charles and one of his friends were shot, and rushed to the hospital. Charles went into emergency surgery and his friend was airlifted to another facility. About 45 minutes into the surgery, doctors informed his family that they were not able to save Charles` life.

On the evening of March 16th, 1998, the Elkhart County Sheriff`s Department received a 911 call and responded to 56200 Riverdale Drive. An acquaintance had entered the residence checking on 63-year old Harvey Smith and found him dead on the living room floor. There was no forced entry to the residence. Mr. Smith was apparently preparing a meal when he was attacked.
Results of an autopsy indicated Mr. Smith died from stab wounds to his upper body. He was the owner of Smith Auto Sales, which was located on Cassopolis Street in Elkhart. Homicide investigators and Crime Stoppers are asking the public for assistance.

On March 9th, 2006 neighbors used their key to enter the home of 84-year old Mary Hake at 54674 North 29th Street in South Bend. Mary had been ill and the neighbors were concerned when she hadn`t closed her drapes the night before as she routinely did. They found Mary lying dead on the kitchen floor. An autopsy revealed she died of stab wounds to the neck.
There had been several home invasions in Mary`s neighborhood and police developed a suspect, but the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit needs more information.

The afternoon of December 23, 2003, 24-year old Arthur Jermaine Bland was alone in his home at 1013 Superior Street in Benton Harbor when he was confronted by armed suspects. Jermaine was shot several times and died from his wounds.
Early on, police identified one suspect believed to be involved and he was charged with armed robbery, but not convicted. They believe the actual trigger man may have come from the Detroit area.
This case has recently been reactivated by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force in Berrien County.

On May 22, 2011, family members discovered the body of 53-year old Domingo Flores, Jr. inside his residence at 901 East Dayton St. in South Bend. His death was ruled a homicide by gunshot.
Family members told police they had lost contact with Domingo a couple of weeks prior to discovering his body. The date of his homicide is not specifically known.

At 3:30 in the morning on November 25th, 2001, Elkhart Police received a call of a man down at the intersection of Beardsley and Conn Avenue. A passerby discovered the body of 31-year old Roderick Hunt lying in the street, just outside his gray Honda Accord 4-door.
Mr. Hunt suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso, and was dead at the scene. Elkhart Police Homicide Investigators and Crime Stoppers need your help.
Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on October 27, 2011, 34-year old Jermell Williams was returning to his apartment at 811 G Lane, Old Farm Apartments in Elkhart, when he was confronted by an armed subject(s) in the hallway. After a brief struggle, Jermell was shot several times and died at the scene.

Shortly after 1:00 am on August 2nd, 2009, Elkhart police officers were dispatched to 820 East County Road 6 in Elkhart on a call of a man down with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, 26-year old Drake Muncie, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital from the gunshot injury sustained.
According to witnesses, there was some type of altercation between Muncie and an unknown black male subject shortly before Muncie being discovered.

Thirty-five year old Kendrick Lamar Chapman was a blacksmith and artist. He did his work out of a workshop located on his property at 66783 Kessington Road in Calvin Township, Cass County, Michigan. On Sunday evening, June 24th, 2007 Kendrick left a phone message for a female friend, and he was never heard from again.
The next morning, a delivery truck arrived with a load of steel. The driver found Kendrick Chapman lying on the floor of his workshop in a pool of blood. An autopsy determined Kendrick died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Early morning on June 14th, 1990, 20-year old Adam Soto was leaving a house in the 600 block of West Lasalle Street in South Bend with some friends. A car was passing, occupied by two black males and they exchanged words with Adam. The car then stopped, and backed up. As Adam turned to face it, he was shot and killed by one of the occupants. One of Adam`s friends was also wounded.
At the time, the suspects were described as mid-twenties to mid-thirties. They were driving a light colored, older model car with rectangular taillights.
Early morning on December 21, 2001, 30-year old Bernard Cockerham was confronted by an unknown suspect inside his home at 2656 Morton Street in Elkhart. There were signs of forced entry and several shots fired inside the house. Bernard was shot once in each leg.
A passerby found Bernard sitting on the street just outside his car in front of his house. A bullet struck a major artery in his leg and Bernard bled to death. Police believe he was trying to drive himself to the hospital before he collapsed.

On May 29th, 2000, South Bend Police were called to 1125 Queen Street on a shooting. Witnesses reported hearing several shots fired, and people yelling. Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 24-year old Leah Bailey in the street in front of the house.
According to the investigation, gunshots were exchanged between parties inside and parties that arrived at the house. It is believed Leah arrived at the house when the gunfire broke out, and was accidentally shot and killed when she was caught in the crossfire. Homicide investigators have interviewed several people, but still need more information.

On May 12, 1999, witnesses in the 55000 block of Country Club Drive, west of the South Bend city limits, heard an argument and several shots fired. At approx. 2:30 p.m., a call to the St. Joseph County Police led to the discovery of the body of 40-year old Wesley Poindexter. He had been shot multiple times.
A delivery truck driver saw a white pickup truck occupied by 3 black males leaving the area right after the shots were fired, and they are believed to be the suspects in the homicide.
